The new Mountain View High School is conceived to replace the existing one-story high school because of growing safety and security concerns. The new building will serve approximately 1800 students grades 9 through 12. The project includes a 3 story structure that surrounds a central courtyard and commons, revitalized sports fields, pedestrian and vehicular circulation, bus drop off locations, and parking lots for visitors, staff, and students.
The interior design uses a contemporary palette of materials, creating a warm and inviting environment. Because of the school’s size, the circulation is branded. “The Loop,” is the primary wayfinding system for students as they move throughout the building. The intent is that from The Loop, you can step off the path and become engaged in discovery or keep moving.
I worked closely with the lead interior designer and project architect; I helped coordinate design challenges between both practices. My responsibilities included compiling schematic design packages, design development documentation, construction documentation, and 3D visualization including a video flythrough.
Completed work while at LSW Architects. Under construction 2020-2022.
